A letter from the Dream House Project founder

Dear Pre-K provider,

The amazing little Dream House is an educational tool with remarkable successes and endless possibilities to its credit. The walk-in, cube-shaped playhouse measures 4 feet on each side and is easy to construct. Easy-to-follow construction plans are available to early education programs in Tennessee on request, at no cost to you or your program. The colorful playhouse with windows, a door and an open space for a puppet theater is inviting and exciting for children. Thousands of Dream Houses have been built world-wide over the past 33 years.

For thousands of Tennessee's 3-, 4- and 5-year-old pre-school children who are away from their homes for the first time, the Dream House provides opportunities for imaginative play, excitement and learning experiences in a child's new environment.

The value of play with pretending, imagining and dreaming constitutes a major way young children learn about their world. But, the necessity for a safe, friendly environment should not be underestimated. The Dream House helps in the transition from the security of familiar home surroundings, to the insecurity of unfamiliar surroundings. The environment of the Dream House offers children a unique space that encourages new experiences, interests, dreams, and friends. The Dream House promotes feelings of security and ownership in a child's new spatial settings.

Early learning providers often encourage learning through imagination. The Dream House can support opportunities for practicing innovative, visionary and inventive skills among young children.

Your dreams can begin with this extraordinary opportunity to have a Dream House of your own for dreaming with your children.

Helping dreamers find a place to dream,

Charlie Allen, just another dreamer
